The SIC (Standard Industrial Classification Codes) are not the most accurate.
With only 59 groups and 460 actual headings it cannot represent the full analysis of UK
business. The Status Media codes (we still provide SIC) are a more accurate method of
targeting being based on approaching 2000 separate categories.

6. The Cleaning Files
With effect from 25th June 2004 anyone promoting products and services by telephone
must ensure the business or consumer has not registered with the Telephone Preference
Scheme (TPS) or Corporate Telephone Scheme (CTPS). Calling incorrectly could result in
legal enforcement and a fine of up to £5000.
This means you are no longer able to make unsolicited sales and marketing calls to
numbers collected from letterheads, directories, websites etc, without first checking they
have not opted out. The same applies to numbers stored in your own contact databases or
purchased lists. This also applies to customer lists. You may call about orders or if
requested but one cannot make prospecting calls unless they indicate they have no
objection.
